Preparation meeting for data providers
To prepare as well as possible for the first Swiss cultural hackathon, which will take place in Bern on 27 and 28 February 2015, we are offering representatives of Swiss heritage institutions who are interested in providing data the opportunity to attend a preparation meeting. The preparation meeting, organised by the ETH Library, will take place on 23 January 2015 from 13:30 to about 18:00 at ETH Zurich.

The aim of the meeting is to launch an initial discussion on the focus and objectives of the hackathon. In addition to the institutions interested in providing data, a number of representatives of the digital humanities as well as Wikipedians and programmers will also take part. Institutions that have already decided to make datasets available for the hackathon will have the opportunity to report on the nature and scope of these data. On this basis, first ideas for possible applications to be built during the hackathon are to be developed in the further course of the event.
During the event, the members of the OpenGLAM working group will also be happy to answer questions about publishing your datasets.
The event will close with an apéro.

To prepare as well as possible for the first Swiss cultural hackathon, which will take place on 27 and 28 February 2015 in Bern, we are offering representatives of Swiss heritage institutions interested in opening up datasets, for this event and beyond, the chance to take part in a preparation meeting. It is organised by the ETH-Bibliothek on 23 January 2015 from 13:30 to about 18:00 on the ETH premises in Zurich.

The aim of this meeting is to offer a first discussion about what the hackathon will be, with researchers in the digital humanities, Wikipedians and developers. In a round of introductions, the institutions present that have already decided to open up datasets will be able to give a few details on their type and scope. This will be the occasion for a creative session in the form of an ideas exchange on reusing these data, to be realised during the hackathon. In addition, the representatives of the organising committee will answer all your questions about making your data available. A small apéritif will round off this get-together.
The event is free of charge, but we ask you to announce your attendance by registering by email with claudia.lienhard@library.ethz.ch by 13 January 2015 at the latest.
