Swiss federal law from 1948 online on opendata.swiss

In today’s press release, the Swiss Federal Archives announce the online publication of the Adjusted Compilation and the Official Compilation of Federal Legislation from 1948 to 1998 in the three official languages on opendata.swiss.

The published compilations are a key legal and historical source: together they provide a complete historical overview of the development of federal law since 1948.

The Official Compilation is the publication organ for enacted federal legislation. It contains the Federal Constitution, federal acts, federal decrees, ordinances, international treaties and agreements between the Confederation and the cantons. It is still published every week and, for the years 1948-1998, comprises a total of 2620 issues and more than 22,000 enactments per language. The editions from 1998 onwards are published on the website of the Federal Chancellery.

The Adjusted Compilation brings together the federal law in force on 1 January 1948. The 15-volume Adjusted Compilation arranged the federal enactments then in force by subject for the first time.

The original texts of both compilations are now available as PDF on the platform amtsdruckschriften.ch. They make it possible to reconstruct individual versions of enactments and to trace changes. With the XML format on opendata.swiss, the data can also be analysed by machine and combined with other information.
