Open Budget 2013 of the City of Bern

Today’s edition of Der Bund carries a detailed report on the new version of the City of Bern’s Open Budget app. Over many nights of volunteer work, software developer Thomas Preusse has visualised the 2013 budget with a new open data application. Compared with the 2012 version, the previous year’s figures are now compared with the current ones and the circles are coloured accordingly. In addition, the detailed budget figures are shown on the right.

This is only the beginning: tomorrow, Bern city councillors Giovanna Battagliero and Matthias Stürmer, coordinators of the cross-party group on digital sustainability, together with Thomas Göttin, will meet the head of finance, Daniel Schaffner. Together they will discuss and prepare the future features of the Open Budget App 2014. So we can look forward to seeing how the City of Bern keeps its leading role in open budget applications among Swiss cities.
