Federal Council adopts Open Government Data strategy
At its meeting today, the Federal Council adopted the Open Government Data Strategy for Switzerland 2014–2018. The Opendata.ch association and the Parliamentary Group for Digital Sustainability are delighted by this clear signal for open government data in Switzerland.
The Open Government Data strategy is the result of a process spanning all federal departments, with close involvement of the federal levels and the open data movement. It confirms the concerns of the open data community and is in line with the parliamentary initiatives submitted at national level in connection with OGD over the last two and a half years.
A sign of the times recognised
Balthasar Glättli, National Councillor and member of the core team of Parldigi, the Parliamentary Group for Digital Sustainability, acknowledges: “The Federal Council has recognised the signs of the times and presented a bold, forward-looking strategy.”
The Opendata.ch association, the open data community and the Parliamentary Group for Digital Sustainability look forward to a swift implementation of the strategy at all federal levels and, in particular, to continued constructive cooperation across administrative, linguistic and other boundaries.
Representing the interests of data users
Opendata.ch will follow the next steps closely and will vigorously champion the interests of data users in business, society and culture.
