8–9 April 2016: Swiss Open Energy Data Hackdays

On 8 and 9 April 2016 the Open Energy Data Hackdays will take place simultaneously at two different locations under the make.opendata.ch label. This time the motto of the hackdays is:
We are going where the energy comes from!

Grimseltor (Innertkirchen):
The Grimseltor has room for 45 participants and is located in Innertkirchen, near the Grimsel dam.
Venue: Grimseltor, Grimselstrasse 2, 3862 Innertkirchen
Accommodation: Hotel Urweider. Single, double, four-bed and ten-bed rooms are available. The room category can be selected when buying the ticket. The ticket price varies depending on the preferred room category.
Getting there: Via Interlaken Ost – Meiringen to the Innertkirchen Grimseltor stop. The meeting point is the Grimseltor in Innertkirchen at 10:00 on Friday morning. The regional train arrives in Innertkirchen, Grimseltor stop, at 09:52.

Mont Crosin
The hackathon for French-speaking Switzerland takes place at the Chalet “Vert-Bois” on Mont Crosin, near the solar farm and the largest wind power plant in Switzerland. There is room for a total of 25 participants here.
Venue: Auberge Vert-Bois (http://www.vert-bois.ch/)
Accommodation: Overnight accommodation is available directly at the Auberge Vert-Bois (room for 14 people). The room category can be selected when buying the ticket. The ticket price varies depending on the preferred room category and accommodation.
Getting there: The meeting point on Friday is Sonceboz-Sembeval at 09:45, and a special bus will then take all participants to the Auberge Vert Bois.

The Open Energy Data Hackdays are aimed at developers, visualisers, lateral thinkers, designers, journalists, energy specialists and anyone interested in energy. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

The Open Energy Data Hackdays are another event centred on the use of open data. Access to and use of open data encourages engagement with a subject and contributes to a better shared understanding of it; it also often leads to the development of great applications and insightful visualisations, and raises further exciting questions:

• How can we use data to make electric mobility simpler, better and smoother?
• How can we use data to heat, cool and manage our homes and workplaces more efficiently?
• How can we use data to better understand our energy system – from production and distribution to our own consumption? And can we communicate about it more clearly and better?
• How can data help us use energy more efficiently?

On 8 and 9 April, let us use open energy data to improve our shared understanding of energy and work on solutions that can help increase energy efficiency in Switzerland in the future.
