Re:Public Domain, Remix Show

70 years after an author’s death, their works enter the public domain.
Public intellectual property then belongs to the citizens, and indeed to every single person. This now also includes the works of Sophie Taeuber-Arp.
Dock18 Institute for the Media Cultures of the World deals with the radical appropriation of the past through reinterpretation. Together with artists and contemporary authors, we try to discover new ways into the public intellectual property of our world of yesterday.
The programme starts at 19:00 with the project “Mis Chindli” and a best of public domain films by Mario Purkathofer, a public domain remix by Bruno Schlatter & Marc Lee, a status report on requests for public domain works by Daniel Boos, and a performance of a musical setting of Eisentanz.
From 21:00, in the interactive part, a prototype of the Re:PublicDomain game will be played, public domain GIFs will be made for the GIF-IT-UP competition and poems will be written for Mis Chindli. In the Aktionshalle there will be a film screening of “Die Weber”.
From 22:30 there is the Public Domain Bar with public domain music: remixes from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Music by Mark Evertz, among others.
Admission is in the public domain.
