Open Food Data Hackdays

  • Hackathon

You are what you eat, what you measure: nutrition, too, is generating more and more data; production, distribution and consumption continuously produce data streams in which there is potential for great progress. Which food is exactly right for me right now? Is what’s on my plate climate-friendly, kosher, vegan, fair, compatible with my allergy?

Preparations for the second major event of food.opendata.ch are already in full swing. On 27 and 28 January 2018 in Lausanne and on 16 and 17 February 2018 in Basel, the «Open Food Data Hackdays» will bring together big data specialists and food experts, software developers, farmers, chefs and app designers, students, entrepreneurs and many others. For two days, they will devote themselves to so-called rapid prototyping around food data. Various data sources are currently being prepared, not least via the foodrepo.org platform of the project partner École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
